Is Your Vehicle Ready for Back to School?

Back to school time is officially here in Skagit County. This is always a super busy time for both parents and students as we get back in routine for the year. An item not usually on top of the priority list for back to school is car maintenance. Whether your student is heading off to high school in town or taking off to college, this is a great time to get their vehicle serviced and ready for the school year!
Below is a quick checklist to help you and your student make sure their car is ready for the school year:
Battery: Is the car starting slowly or do you have suspicions the battery might not be in tip top shape? Stop into Burlington Automotive to have your battery tested today. It’s quick and easy and can save your student from being stranded is their car won’t start this fall and winter.
Fluid levels: Make sure and check the levels of your engine oil, coolant, transmission fluid, and brake and power steering fluid—your owner’s manual will illustrate where everything is located and the proper levels to maintain. Tires: Check for uneven tread wear, nails or other potential hazards. Check the pressure on each tire with a gauge when they’re cold (not driven). Follow the vehicle manufacturer’s suggested pressure, which is located on most vehicles on a sticker inside the driver’s door, center console, glove compartment lid or in the owner’s manual.
Lights: Check the brake lights by having your student press the brake pedal while you observe the lights coming on. The same can be done for headlights and vehicle running lights. Vehicles can have many different types of bulbs and they have varying lifespans. Inspect your vehicle regularly to ensure your lights are working properly.
